    Divison/Camps Section, Wildland Live-Fire Training Burns (no larger than
    5 acres) at the Pitchess Detention Center/Wayside facility (5 Fwy off of Hasley
    Canyon Rd), Castaic

    TIME:  9:00AM - 12:00PM

    Radio-Linked Wristbands Keep Track of Inmates

    California inmates will wear wristbands which, if broken off, will alert guards to a possible prison escape....

    This system will be implemented in the nations largest jail system, using an updated version of these devices tested at Calipatria State Prison.

    Inaugural Arthritis Walk a Huge Success

    Over 300 people came outside for the first Santa Clarita Arthritis Walk Sunday morning at Bridgeport Community Park....

    The run, which had a 1-K or 5-K distance option, raised over $20,000 for the Arthritis Foundation. 


    Many people brough their dogs who enjoyed the sunshine and warm weather as well.

    Antonovich Declares May 2005 "Mental Health Month"

    At the Board of Supervisors meeting on May 10, 2005, Supervisor Michael
    D. Antonovich joined the Board of Supervisors in proclaiming the month
    of May 2005 as "Mental Health Month."
    Mental illness affects one in five Americans every year, and
    co-occurrence of mental illness and substance abuse is a significant
    concern that requires integrated mental health treatment.  Mental health
    is a fundamental component of general health and indispensable to
    personal well-being, family and interpersonal relationships, and
    societal interactions.

    Tons of sand, a master sculptor and children with abundant imagination combined Friday at Hurricane Harbor for a wonderland of sand sculptures — and a Six Flags welcome to summer.

    “Most folks remember going to the beach as a kid and making a little castle,” said Bert Adams, dubbed a master sculptor by the Six Flags organizers. “Anyone with a little technique and some tools can make an impressive sand sculpture.”
