Regions Premier Wine-Tasting Event Returns

SANTA CLARITA - Tickets are selling fast for the Santa Clarita Valley Wine Classic, the region's premier wine-tasting event and fundraiser for young musicians. The annual event will return to California Institute of the Arts the evening of Saturday, May 28.
Those who purchase advance tickets will receive a discount from the at-the-door price. Individual tickets cost $70 if purchased by May 27, rising to $80 per person the day of the event.

Ticket prices are as follows:
*    May 2 to 27: $70 each, $130 a pair
*    At the door: $80 each; $150 a pair

Lanes On I-5 To Close On Grapevine

North Los Angeles County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following additional lane (one southbound lane has already been closed for slide repairs since February storms) of the southbound Golden State Freeway (I-5) at Templin Highway on the “Grapevine” – approximately 12 miles north of Highway 126 near Santa Clarita -- in order to perform storm-related pavement repairs, as follows: ·     From Friday, May 20 at 7 p.m. until Sunday, May 22, at 1 p.m.— and
·     From  Sunday, May 22 at 8 p.m. until Monday, May 23 at 5 a.m.:

"Star Wars" Fans Line Up For Launch

The first showing of "Star Wars" was at 12:01 am this morning, yet all tickets were sold out by 7:30 Wednesday evening....

Almost 200 fans were already in line at the Edwards Theatre in Canyon Country by 8:30 Wednesday evening.

Planners Approve Condominium Conversion

The City of Santa Clarita Planning Commission has said "OK" to a tentative tract map which will convert the Prado at Town Center apartments to condominiums.... 

Residents are concerned that they will have to pack up and leave right away, but officials reassure them that there is no rush.

Once the condo map goes under development, approval can take up to a year.

New Helicopters For Fire Dept. Fleet

Los Angeles – To enhance trauma patient transportation services, wildland fire fighting and rescue services, the Board of Supervisors unanimously authorized the purchase of two new helicopters and associated equipment, announced Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

Gang-Related Fight in Canyon Country

A fight between 6 possible gang members erupted in the 4pm hour Wednesday at Tiny's Submarines in Canyon Country. Santa Clarita Sheriff's officials responded to the scene and promptly detained several suspects, including the arrest of one person for resisting arrest and interfering with the investigation.
