The Dodgers were defeated by The Giants 5-3

The Dodgers were defeated by The Giants 5-3, in the First game of their freeway series Tuesday evening. Tune in Tomorrow night the 25th, as the Dodgers take on the Giants once again, in the second of  this Three Game Freeway series agaist the Giants.Tune in to your Hometown station KHTS, AM-1220. Pre-game starts at 6:30 with the first pitch at 7:00. 

New Veterans Historical Plaza opens in Newhall

The City will celebrate the grand opening for its Veterans Historical Plaza on Saturday, May 28.  The ceremony starts at at the corner of Market and Walnut Streets in Old Town Newhall.

Fire Season Peaking

Following a string of small brush fires along the 14 Freeway over the weekend, Los Angeles County Fire Department officials say the fire season peak is getting close....

Because of the winter rains, there has been a huge growth of fire fuel -- quick-burning, dry brush -- throughout the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valleys.

For the little that has not yet dried out, officials say it will be very soon.

Closures For I-5 Carpool Lane, Near Sylmar

Sylmar/North San Fernando Valley – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes, ramps and connectors of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) from May 25 to May 27 -- as part of a $41.6-million project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle, (HOV), or carpool lanes on northbound and southbound I-5 from State Route 118 to State Route 14: WEDNESDAY, MAY 25 TO THURSDAY, MAY 26:

·     From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The northbound I-5 off-ramp to Brand Boulevard
·     From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The southbound I-5 truck bypass lanes to southbound I-405

Arrest Made in Weekend Fires

At least six small brush fires broke out along the 14 Freeway near Escondido Canyon Road at about 12:30 p.m. on Saturday....

Arson was suspected in the starting of the blazes.  Witnesses reported seeing suspect Ryan Stallings, 18, on foot, playing with a flare pistol.

Stallings was arrested Saturday on suspicion of arson.

Magic Mountain Brawls Result in Arrests

Two separate fights occurred late Saturday evening, one starting near the Goliath ride, then after the dispersal of those involved, another seemingly related fight ensued....

Two people were detained in the first fight and eleven suspects were detained as a result of the second fight, seven of them being juveniles.

More than 25 people total were involved in the incidents, and no one was reported seriously hurt.

Public Hearing Set On New Mine

Yet another mine is being planned just near the TMC/Cemex mine that the City has been fighting so diligently.

The proposed mine is on the south side of the Santa Clara River just east of Sand Canyon, having a direct impact on the residents in Sand Canyon.

There is a Public Information Meeting being held on the mine proposal at City Hall next week.

All Santa Clarita residents are encouraged to attend to learn more information and make comments.
