Lane Closures Continue for I-5/126 Interchange

   LANE CLOSURES CONTINUE FOR I-5/126 INTERCHANGE, 3-21 THROUGH 3-25

      Santa Clarita – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) and State Route 126 as part of a $24-million project to improve the I-5/126 Interchange, from Monday, March 21 through Friday, March 25:

INTERSTATE 5:

·     Daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

-     One lane of southbound I-5 from Hasley Canyon Road to Rye Canyon Road

Supervisors Postpone Road Decision

Los Angeles County Supervisors postponed a plan to move $60 million to the Department of Public Works to fix storm-damaged roads throughout the county....

Some of the roads affected include San Francisquito Canyon Road, which remains shut north of Copper Hill, and Bouquet Canyon Road which is down to one lane near Lombardi Ranch.

Applications available for COC Preschool



    SANTA CLARITA - College of the Canyons is accepting applications now
for its popular Preschool and Toddler Program at its Center for Early
Childhood Education.  The Fall semester begins August 16, 2005.
    "This is an excellent opportunity to involve young children in a
program that encourages social, emotional, intellectual and physical
growth," said site director Cam Valenzuela.  The Center for Early Childhood
Education offers a fully-certified and credentialed teaching staff.

Storm Update: Wednesday Morning

Tuesday's storm dumped more rain throughout the Santa Clarita area. Highway 126 was shut down in the overnight hours, and this morning one Westbound lane remains closed near Wolcott Way due to mudslides.

The California Highway Patrol is also reporting some roadway flooding along portions of the Old Road near Weldon Canyon and along some portions of the 5 and 14 Freeways.

The Saugus Action Committee and the Santa Clarita YMCA are proud to present their annual Eggstravaganza celebration!

SCV Invaded by Butterflies

Commonly known as "painted ladies," these butterflies have been coming out as the temperatures warm up....

These migrating insects travel in excess of 40 miles per hour, as you may be able to tell as they come head on to your windshield on the 14 freeway!

Racism Talks Continue

Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, who represents the district which includes the Santa Clarita Valley, called a mmeting Wednesday night with the intent to curb racism in Wm. S. Hart schools, which has been highly publicized in the last couple of months....

The meeting, to be held at College of the Canyons, is expected to bring in representatives from the FBI's Hate Crim Task Force, the U.S. Department of Justice, the NAACP, Counth Human Relations Commission, Sheriff's Deputies, Probation and Public Safety officers, and local clergy members.

On the first day of on-line registration for its summer camp program for youth, the City of Santa Clarita saw $25,000 in registration fees during the first 15 minutes, surprising Recreation staff with a heightened community interest.


Bouquet Canyon Closed For 2-Days By Lombardi Ranch

Bouquet Canyon Road will be shut down, today and tomorrow (Monday & Tuesday), at Lombardi Ranch. Los Angeles County is repaving the road as it continues repairs from the winter storms.
