    Varsity Boys Basketball Scores

    Valencia defeated Hart 56-41 in a game that was heard live on AM 1220 KHTS.  In other games, Saugus beat Burroughs 78-72, and Canyon beat Burbank 48-46.

    Longtime Instructor, Coach Lee Corbin Dies Suddenly

    SANTA CLARITA - The College of the Canyons family is mourning the loss of one of its own: Lee Corbin, a longtime faculty member and athletic coach who died at his Las Vegas home in January, just seven months after retiring from College of the Canyons. He was 62.

    FEMA to Open Assistance Center

    Federal aid workers took applications from local governments and residents Monday, as Presiden Bush's disaster declaration gave hope to flood-ravaged residents in the SCV....

    The Federal Emergency Management Agency is set to open an assistance center this week at the Castaic Sports Complex.


    There are still residents left homeless following the rains.

    Ashlee Treebilcock - Lockheed Player of the Week!

    Congratulations to Ashlee Trebilcock of Hart High School for being selected as Lockheed Federal Credit Union’s “Player of the Week.”

    Trebilcock turned out a pair of dominant performances in two Hart victories. On Tuesday, she scored 26 points in a 71-39 win over Burroughs. Friday, she kicked it up another notch, helping the Indians overcome a slow start, scoring 29 points in the 65-33 win over Burbank to complete a 55-point week.

    Girls Learn Self Defense

    The Zonta Club of Santa Clarita invited a band of yong girls to learn survival and self-confidence over the weekend....

    The workshop which taught physical as well as verbal self defense, lasted 10 hours long and was conducted in association with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and the Girl Scouts of America.

    Super Bowl Violence Myth Debunked

    Is there truth behind the urban myth that more women are victims of domestic violence on Super Bowl Sunday than on the other 364 days of the year? 
       

     A respected Web site that aims to prove or disprove urban legends has debunked the myth. It cites the timeline of how the myth gained steam before Super Bowl Sunday in 1993.
    On the Thursday preceding the big event, a coalition of women’s groups called a news conference in Pasadena, where they offered anecdotal evidence supporting the contention. 
       

    Friday Night High School Basketball Scores

    In a nail bitting game broadcast live on KHTS A.M. 1220 Friday Night, Saugus beat Valencia 61-56 in overtime.  In other high school basketball games, Hart defeated Burbank 64-38 and Canyon won over Burroughs 73-62.

    SCV Storm Aid Coalition Formed

    Over sixty local Santa Clarita families will not be returning to their homes in the near future, due to damages from the January storm. In fact, some may never be able to return. The American Red Cross and other organizations have been assisting many of these families, but as the critical segment of our storm damage diminishes, support for these families is also disappearing.
