In an exciting high school basketball game heard Friday evening on AM 1220 KHTS,  Hart defeated Saugus 54 - 51.

In other basketball action, it was Valencia over Canyon 77 - 71 and Burroughs beat Burbank 71 - 68.

As of Thursday night, the eight-figure winnings remain unclaimed.

Red Cross Closes Shelter At College of the Canyons

The Red Cross closed the shelter at the College of the Canyons after lunch today (January 20th) at 1:00 PM.  Shelter residents were informed yesterday of today's closure.  They had been sheltering families evacuated from their homes in Santa Clarita due to flooding for 12 days.

Red Cross Shelter Will Close This Week

As a result of the recent rains, the American Red Cross has been running an emergency shelter for displaced residents at College of the Canyons...

Shelter organizer Bill Frazier says that the Red Cross is trying to help people.  Many people are showing up at the shelter seeking federal disaster relief funds, which will not be available unless President Bush proclaims Southern California a federal disaster area.

The county of Los Angeles has been declared a state of emergency, but that does not qualify as a federal declaration.

Santa Clarita In Great Financial Shape

The City has once again received an unqualified (“clean”) audit opinion on its financial statements, most recently for the financial statements for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2004. These statements present the results of the City’s operational activities for the year and it’s ending financial position.
