Second Batch of Rain Expected Friday

A second wave of rain is expected to start late tonight and into Friday....

Rain should be steady throughout the day Friday, with high temperatures in the upper 50s and low 60s, and the rain should taper off by Saturday, making way for a beautiful weekend.

Volunteers Search for Homeless

Census takers spread out across the SCV Tuesday night and early Wednesday, looking for homeless people....

The search falls in line with a "bid to put together a comprehensive countywide count of the displaced," according to the Signal.

Sheriffs Deputy Killed in Metrolink Crash

Among the dozen killed in Wednesday's Metrolink train crash in Glendale was a former Santa Clarita Sheriff's deputy....

James P. Tutino, 47, was a 23-year-veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, and lived in Simi Valley.  Earlier in his career he had worked at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic, a division of the Pitchess Detention Center.

Thief Runs Away with Cash

At about 10 p.m. Wednesday, a man walked up to the night manager at Java n Jazz at the College of the Canyons campus and punched him....

The suspect punched the victim, the night manager of the store, in the face and stole a backpack that contained $1,400 in cash that was to be deposited.  The suspect was last seen running between different buildings on the COC campus.


Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the incident; anyone with more information is asked to contact the station at (661) 255-1121.

Two Trains will be leaving Union Station tonight and will go up to the crash site.  Passengers will be taken off the train, bused around the derailment, and then immediately put on another train headed towards Santa Clarita.


The 215 will leave at 5:00pm
The 219 will leave at 6:30pm


Buses will be leaving Union Station and will be stopping at all Metrolink stops.


Bus 221 will be leaving at 7:35pm
Bus 223 will be leaving at 9:00pm

Shooting Suspect Pleads Innocent

Robert Wheeler, the suspect in a shooting at a Newhall adult store, pleaded innocent to murder with special circumstances Tuesday....

Wheeler shot three men that day, and ended up confessing to the crime, then shooting himself when deputies arrived to take him into custody.

Hart Park Closed for Suicide Investigaion

Hart Park was closed most of the day Tuesday as Sheriff's deputies investigated a suicide....

A woman jogging scenic dirt trails behind the park discovered a the man who had shot himself, but he was apparently still alive with a faint pulse.


His condition is not known at this time, as Sheriff's deputies continue to investigate the incident.


 

Metrolink Trains Collide and Derail

In one of the worst train disasters in Southern Calfornia, history, hundreds were hurt, and at least 9 people have lost their lives after two Metrolink trains collide....

The accident occurred at 6:03 a.m., involving the Northbound 901 train from L.A. Union Station to Burbank, and the Southbound 100 train from Ventura County.
