Memorial And Funeral Procession Planned For Fallen Soldier
The memorial service for a local soldier killed in Afghanistan has been scheduled for Saturday March 13.
Sgt. Ian Gelig, 25, of Stevenson Ranch, was killed in Kandahar, Afghanistan on March 1 when his patrol unit was hit by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device.

Color Designs For Golden Valley Bridge Mural Released
Schools picked to help paint mural.
The latest and most detailed version of a future mural that will adorn the Golden Valley bridge underpass has been revealed. The mural was designed by the Special Children's Art Foundation (SCAF), and commissioned by the city of Santa Clarita.
The new revision includes all of the colors, which provide the most accurate preview of the artwork to date.
A New Way To Play Golf-No Clubs Required
The City of Santa Clarita will open a new nine-hole Disc Golf Course for play at Central Park on Friday, March 12.
The additional holes, located on the southern edge of the park, complement the original nine hole layout on the eastern edge of the park, and offer a more challenging alternative for advanced play.
