Another Canyon Country Boy Dies, One Airlifted As Precaution
Infant with heart problems succumbs to complications, 3-year-old takes tumble from window.
A 3-year-old boy fell from a second-story apartment window on Stillmore Street in Canyon Country Tuesday afternoon, prompting fire officials to bring in a helicopter and airlift him to Childrens
Hospital in Los
The helicopter landed and took off from the field at Sierra
Vista Junior High School, which is across the street from the apartment complex.
No details were available as to why the boy fell from the window, but Sheriff’s Sgt. Darren Harris said that the boy did not have any obvious injuries after hitting the pavement.
“After the boy hit the concrete, witnesses called 911,” Harris said. “He didn’t appear to have any significant injuries, but did complain of pain in his leg and head.”
Earlier in the day, a five-month old boy who had stopped breathing was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
Sheriff’s deputies stopped midday traffic, closing every intersection between his home on Palomino
Drive in Sand
Canyon and the hospital to escort the ambulance carrying the boy.
Sheriff’s officials told KHTS that the boy had recently undergone heart surgery may have experienced complications from that condition.
