Two Email Scams Strike Santa Clarita
Santa Clarita Deputies received two separate reports of email phishing related scams from residents who apparently had their Yahoo and GMail accounts unlawfully accessed and altered.
In each case, the residents reported that someone had managed to gain access to their e-mail account, changed their password and sent an e-mail to all of their personal friends and contacts in their account.
Armed Suspect Nabbed After Massive Containment Operation

Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Burglary team out of the Santa Clarita station got a longer day than they hoped for when they went to search for a person of interest in recent burglaries.
The team arrived at the 18000 block of Annes Circle in Canyon Country just after 9:00 Wednesday morning attempting to contact 24 year-old Rodrick Butler. Upon arriving, Butler reportedly spotted the investigators and ran away. One detective claimed to have seen a gun in his waistband as he ran.

Golden Valley Pitcher Sets School Record With 17 Strikeouts
Golden Valley's Scott Barlow turned in one of the best pitching performances in school history in his team's 8-3 win over Lancaster in the Southern California Invitational.
Barlow struck out a school record 17 batters in his complete game win over Lancaster. He walked two and gave up two earned runs.
Kamran Young was 2-for-3 and hit a two-run home run for Golden Valley. Teammate Billy Fredrick went 4-for-4 with a double and scored a run.
Memorial And Funeral Procession Planned For Fallen Soldier
The memorial service for a local soldier killed in Afghanistan has been scheduled for Saturday March 13.
Sgt. Ian Gelig, 25, of Stevenson Ranch, was killed in Kandahar, Afghanistan on March 1 when his patrol unit was hit by a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device.
