Ten Children Found In Two Castaic Drug Houses
Two homes in Castaic were raided yesterday after months of surveillance by narcotics detectives who suspected both locations were involved in drug trafficking.
After serving search warrants at a home in the 27500 block of Violin Canyon Drive and another at a home in the 31400 block of Arrow Point, both in Castaic, detectives arrested three men and one woman.
Cleanroom Facility Unveiled At College Of The Canyons
Providing a state of the art facility to train students interested in pursuing careers in the sciences and learning more about nanoscience and nanotechnology, this week College of the Canyons administrators officially unveiled the college's new Emerging Technologies Instrumentation Laboratory and Cleanroom facility.
Transit Deputy Involved In Collision In Newhall
A reserve sheriff's deputy assigned to the Transit Division Training Unit was involved in a minor traffic accident while enroute home today.
According to Lt. Robert Lewis, watch commander at the Santa Clarita Valley sheriff's station, the deputy was in the area of Newhall Avenue and Railroad Avenue shortly after 3 p.m. when the front end of his motorcycle was clipped by another vehicle. The deputy's motorcycle flipped over and he fell forward to the ground.
Lewis said the deputy's injuries appeared to be minor, but he was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital as a precaution.
Three Major Recalls Underway
Three products; two food and one medicinal, are the subject of recalls, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Markets are recalling pumpkin cheesecake pies due to undeclared pecans, which could cause a reaction to those with nut allergies. Certain lots of Brooklyn's Best brand smoked Nova salmon are being recalled because of a possible listeria contamination, which can cause serious and possibly fatal infections in those with compromised immune systems. And Vicks is recalling specific lots of its Sinex nasal spray after finding the bacteria B. cepacia in a small amount of product made at its plant in Gross Gerau, Germany.
