8 College Of The Canyons Football Players Headed To Division I Colleges

Kicker Ricky Drake, a Valencia High graduate, going to UN Reno. 

Eight football players from College of the Canyons will continue their collegiate careers at NCAA Division I schools in the fall.

Shawn Johnson, an offensive lineman, will be headed to UCLA, and Ricky Drake, a kicker who went to

Valencia High School, will play at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Defensive back Kenny Brown, who played his high school football at Paraclete in

Lancaster, has decided on UNLV, wide receiver Hayo Carpenter is going to the University of Minnesota and Joe Evinger, an offensive lineman who played high school football in Indiana, is going to the University of Louisville .

Defensive lineman Jonathan Hollins from

Louisiana, is going to the University of Arizona. Fullback Sean Quinn of Texas is going to try and walk on at USC and defensive lineman Dejuan Yates is going to New Mexico State.

Four other players from College of the Canyons decided to continue their football careers at Division II or NAIA schools.

Defensive back Kamuela Brito will play at

McKendree University, an NAIA school, offensive lineman Ralph Curiel is going to Wingate University, a Division II school, linebacker Steve Gourley is going to American Sports University and wide receiver Nate Jones is going to the University of Arkansas, Monticello, a Division II school.

Wednesday was national signing day, when football players can officially announce where they will play in the fall.
