Valencia Sex Offender Behind Bars For Weapons Possession

khts_crimeAn anonymous tip led deputies to a cache of weapons held by a convicted sex offender subject to periodic probation checks.

Deputies went to the home of Tyler Lee Ferguson in the 24000 block of Master Cup Way in Valencia, where they found Ferguson in possession of five guns, a violation of his probation.

Santa Clarita Deputy Receives Meritorious Conduct Medal

Deputy_Mark_L._WoodOn Wednesday, September 8, Sheriff Lee Baca presented 29 members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department with the Department’s highest honors during the Medal of Valor and Meritorious Conduct Awards Ceremony. The Valor and Meritorious Conduct medals are awarded annually to those who have performed acts of great bravery or heroism, above and beyond the call of duty, to save the lives of others while potentially placing their own lives at risk.

During this year's ceremonies, one of Santa Clarita's own deputies was honored for his bravery and quick thinking.

Crime Down In Sheriff's Patrol Areas

khts_crime_genericCrime is down in several areas patrolled by the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, according to analysis of recent statistics.

As of August 31, preliminary crime data shows that criminal homicides in Sheriff’s patrol areas have decreased by 10.2 percent, compared to the same year-to-date period last year (146 homicides last year compared to 132 this year).
